Over 100 years ago, a marque that stood out immediately in a young automobile panorama was founded on the outskirts of Milan – Alfa Romeo. A name that became synonymous with cars, so important has its presence been both industrially and in motor sport. In this long period of time, the celebrated Italian manufacturer has brought cars to life that have become part of history, like the 1900, Giulietta, Giulia and Alfetta. At the same time, Alfa Romeo has been an outstanding motor sport competitor, winning all of the most significant races and titles, among them the Mille Miglia, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Tourist Trophy and the Formula 1 World Championship.

This book, which first appeared in 2010 (under the title ‘Alfa Romeo From 1910 to 2010’) when Alfa Romeo celebrated its first century, was written by the late Maurizio Tabucchi, an expert on the history of the marque, who died a few years ago. Today, his work has been updated to include all the latest models – the Giulietta, Mito, Giulia and Stelvio chronologically the latest to have been launched with the name it shares with one of the great Alfa Romeo classics.

Oltre cento anni fa, nel 1910, alla periferia di Milano, nasceva un marchio capace da subito di distinguersi nell’ancor giovane panorama automobilistico dell’epoca: l’Alfa Romeo. Un nome divenuto negli anni sinonimo di automobili, tanto importante è stata la sua presenza sia sul piano industriale che su quello sportivo. In questo lungo lasso di tempo, la celebre Casa italiana ha dato vita a vetture entrate nella storia, come la 1900, la Giulietta, la Giulia o l’Alfetta e, nello stesso tempo, ha saputo scrivere indimenticabili pagine di sport, imponendosi in tutte le più importanti competizioni sportive: dalla Mille Miglia a Le Mans, dal Tourist Trophy al Mondiale Marche.

Questo volume, apparso per la prima volta nel 2010 (con il titolo ‘Alfa Romeo From 1910 to 2010’), quando l’Alfa Romeo celebrò i suoi primi cento anni di vita, fu firmato da Maurizio Tabucchi, autorevole conoscitore della storia del Marchio, scomparso alcuni anni fa. L’opera viene oggi aggiornata con tutti gli ultimi modelli prodotti: Giuiletta, Mito, Giulia e Stelvio l’ultima nata in ordine di tempo, che, già nel nome, si riallaccia ad una delle auto più classiche del marchio del Biscione.
